Google indexing investigation — usebrioso.com
Status: open, paused mid-investigation. Started 2026-08-08. Continue from
“Next step” at the bottom.
How this started
User ran site:usebrioso.com in Google and got exactly one result — the
homepage — with a stale cached snippet:
Title: “Brioso: White-label audio for every place your brand lives”
Description: “Brioso is the white-label, copyright-free audio layer for
branding agencies. Upload your client’s logo, get a free strategy, ship a
kit for $99.”
That copy is from the site’s earlier agency-first positioning. The live
production homepage right now serves:
<title>Custom music and royalty-free tracks for creators | Brioso</title>
<meta name="description" content="Brief a custom track from $4.90, or browse
thousands of royalty-free tracks in the catalog from $4.90 (bundles from
$19.90). Preview free.">
So Google’s cache is stale — first sign this is a crawl/index problem, not
just “the site only has one page.”
Technical SEO checks — all clean, ruled out as the cause
Verified directly against production (curl, not local):
https://usebrioso.com/robots.txt—User-agent: */Allow: /for
Googlebot. Cloudflare’s managed block disallows some AI crawlers
(GPTBot, Google-Extended, etc.) but not Googlebot’s regular indexing UA.
Only disallows/status/,/strategy/,/auth/,/jobs/,/kits/,
/refine/,/uploads/,/stripe/,/agencies— none of those matter
for indexing the real marketing pages.https://usebrioso.com/sitemap.xml— live, correctly referenced from
robots.txt, returns 107<url>entries (75 unprefixed +/es/+/fr/
hreflang variants). Rendered dynamically from
apps/web/src/lib/routes.tsMARKETING_ROUTES+ published blog posts +
taxonomy leaves — seeapps/web/src/routes/sitemap[.]xml.ts.- Checked
/and/pricingHTML source directly: unique<title>, unique
<meta name="description">, correct<link rel="canonical">, correct
hreflang<link rel="alternate">set, JSON-LD Organization/WebSite
schema on the homepage. No stray<meta name="robots" content="noindex">. - Checked response headers on
/and/pricing— noX-Robots-Tagheader
anywhere (would have blocked indexing site-wide if present).
Conclusion: the code is not the problem. No reason found in the repo why
Google would fail to index these pages.
Google Search Console findings
Overview → Indexing card: 77 not-indexed pages, 1 indexed page. The
underlying graph jumps from 0 → ~77 known URLs around 7/26/26 — Google
only recently became aware of most of the site’s URLs; before that, GSC
tracked ~0.
URL Inspection on https://usebrioso.com/pricing:
- “URL is not on Google” / “Page is not indexed: URL is unknown to Google”
- Discovery → Sitemaps: “No referring sitemaps detected”
- Discovery → Referring page: “None detected”
- Crawl → Last crawl: N/A (never crawled)
This is the important finding: /pricing isn’t “crawled but rejected,” it’s
not discovered at all — not via the submitted sitemap, not via an
internal link Google already knows about. That rules out a quality/trust
“soft-reject” explanation for this specific URL and points at a discovery
gap instead.
Leading hypotheses (unconfirmed)
sitemap.xmlwas never formally submitted in GSC. Referencing it
fromrobots.txtis not the same as submitting it under Indexing →
Sitemaps — Google doesn’t always proactively pull a sitemap just
becauserobots.txtpoints at it, especially early on for a
lower-authority domain. If GSC shows no submitted sitemap, that’s the
likely reason/pricingand most other current URLs were never queued
for crawling.- The 77 “known” URLs GSC does have may be stale/unrelated to the
current route set — possibly discovered via old backlinks or a prior
crawl under the site’s earlier positioning/URL structure (recall the
/music/*→/audio/music/*restructure, the agency-first → creator
pivot, etc.), rather than from the current sitemap. Worth cross-checking
the actual list of 77 URLs (Indexing → Pages report, click into “not
indexed”) against the current sitemap URL list captured below.
Next step — pick up here
Was about to ask the user to open Indexing → Sitemaps in GSC and report:
- Is
sitemap.xmllisted as a submitted sitemap at all? - If yes: status, last read date, “Discovered URLs” count reported by
Google for it. - If no: that confirms hypothesis 1 — the fix is to submit
https://usebrioso.com/sitemap.xmlin GSC directly, then use URL
Inspection → “Request indexing” on the highest-priority pages (/,
/pricing,/audio/music,/studio) to force a first crawl rather than
waiting on organic discovery.
After that, also worth pulling the Indexing → Pages report’s full
exclusion-reason breakdown (not just the Overview card’s single number) to
see if the 77 are Discovered – not indexed, Crawled – not indexed,
Duplicate without canonical, or something else — the reason changes what
the fix is.

Note: /creators and /brand-kit are still in the live production
sitemap above because PR #201 (branch
chore/header-nav-audio-studio-pricing) hasn’t merged/deployed yet. Once it
does, sitemap.xml self-corrects automatically — it’s rendered live from
MARKETING_ROUTES, not a static file, so no manual sitemap edit is needed
either now or after merge. See that PR for the header-nav restructure and
dead-route cleanup this session also did (unrelated to the indexing issue,
just concurrent work).
